HARRISBURG, Pa., June 17, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- One, two, three strikes; you're outdoors.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Harrisburg Senators are teaming to give fans of hunting and baseball a special night at the ballpark on Friday, June 21.
Outdoors Night at Metro Bank Park provides discounted ticket opportunities for licensed Pennsylvania hunters and furtakers, and loads of outdoors-themed activities including archery instruction and shooting simulators. Additionally, the first 1,000 children ages 12 and under will receive a free hunter-orange Game Commission baseball cap.
Pennsylvania hunters and furtakers can show their licenses at the Metro Bank Park box office to receive a $2 per ticket discount for themselves and their families. The discount can be applied to Reserved, Box, Field Box and Dugout Box seats.
An identical discount also will be offered to hunters and furtakers on Thursday, July 18 and Thursday, Aug. 22.
Box tickets can be purchased online at a $2 discount. To pre-purchase tickets, go to http://tinyurl.com/OUTDOORSNIGHT and enter OUTDOORS in all capital letters in the promo code box. Click the "Submit" button next to the code, then click on the blue plus sign next to the Box ticket option to choose a section and the quantity of seats
Game time is 7 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Those who want to experience all the night has to offer should plan to arrive early.
The Game Commission plans to set up two shooting simulators at the park. The Beam Hit simulator teaches the fundamentals of marksmanship by allowing participants to fire a laser rifle at stationary targets. The Laser Shot simulator aims to replicate hunting scenarios on a video screen and educates participants about safe gun-handling and good shot placement.
Those attending the game also will be able to try their hands at target shooting with bows and arrows, and there will be other demonstrations and displays around the ballpark as well.
"We're hoping to see lots of orange hats in the crowd and smiles on faces all around," said Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe. "We're happy, too, to provide hunters and trappers who are baseball fans, and their families, a night that combines so many of the things they enjoy."
The Harrisburg Senators remind baseball fans that all seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and only orders that are purchased together can be seated together. Discounted tickets cannot be purchased by phone, and there are no refunds or exchanges for tickets purchased.
Metro Bank Park is located at 1 Championship Way, Harrisburg, PA 17101. Those wanting more information about tickets can contact the Harrisburg Senators at (717) 231-4444.
