Hunter Roberts Construction Group Is Awarded Overbuild Project Of A Historic Property By Ivy Realty
NEW YORK, March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Hunter Roberts Construction Group (Hunter Roberts) is pleased to announce the firm has been commissioned to handle the pre-construction and construction management services for the reconstruction of the historic 1600 Callowhill Street in Philadelphia, PA. Formerly an office building, 1600 Callowhill will undergo interior and exterior renovations and a proposed overbuild to turn it into 100 new, market-rate apartments. The construction is planned to begin in November 2017 with occupancy expected by January 2019.
A Historic Property with Modern Amenities
As part of this 140,000-SF reconstruction, Hunter Roberts will completely gut the current interior and work with Bower Lewis Thrower Architects to redesign and reconfigure the floor plan, which includes relocating elevators and stair towers. Bower Lewis Thrower is known for its functional and aesthetic design practice that complements the current environment, making it the perfect fit to transform this historic building into modern apartments while making sure the building loses none of its original charm. The proposed overbuild construction will add an additional floor to the renovated building, with additional window replacements and repairs to the façade.
More Business for Callowhill Street
Current plans for construction, including retail space on the ground floor and additional amenities, add increased incentive for Philadelphia apartment seekers. Part of the rapidly growing Spring Garden neighborhood, the addition of new retail tenants at 1600 Callowhill will also prove lucrative for existing business and draw in new ones, based on its proximity to major roads.
