Hundreds to Celebrate School Choice Week with Student Showcase in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of students, teachers, and community members will attend a celebratory student showcase at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23.
The event, which will take place at Renaissance Academy Charter School, will feature a variety of musical and artistic performances by students who attend various schools. The timing will coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We are privileged in Pennsylvania to have school choice as an option for families in all settings—public, virtual, charter, private or homeschool," said Ana Meyers, executive director of Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools. "In signing on to National School Choice Week, we can shed light on how our students are benefitting from school choice across the commonwealth."
This event is being organized by the Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools, the largest and most active organization representing charter schools throughout the Keystone State. Other members of the planning committee include the Catholic Conference, the Commonwealth Foundation, Excellent Schools PA, ExcelinEd, Reach and Americans for Prosperity.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
