Hundreds of Students, Educators to Celebrate School Choice
PITTSBURGH, Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- About 500 students, teachers, and community members are expected to attend a rally for school choice at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24 at Lincoln Park Performing Arts School.
The rally will celebrate the access to education that Pennsylvania families already enjoy and bring the entire community together to celebrate great schools. The rally will feature music and dance performances by students.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We are privileged in Pennsylvania to have school choice as an option for families in all settings–traditional public, virtual, charter, private or homeschool," said Ana Meyers, executive director of Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools. "In signing on to National School Choice Week, we can shed light on how our students are benefitting from school choice across the commonwealth."
This event is being organized by the Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools, the largest and most active organization representing charter schools throughout the Keystone State.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
