Hundreds of School Choice Supporters to Rally at State Capitol
Students, parents, teachers, and supporters to celebrate opportunity in education
LINCOLN, Neb., Jan. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hundreds of people will be celebrating National School Choice Week at a rally at the Warner Chamber of the state capitol building at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"Every family, regardless of income, experience, or zip code, should have the opportunity to choose the education best suited for their child. Many Nebraska families do not enjoy this freedom because of financial obstacles," said Tom Venzor, executive director of the Nebraska Catholic Conference. "School Choice Week celebrates true educational freedom and reminds us here in Nebraska that there is a great need to invest in our children and families across the state."
"School choice is a universal human right for parents. Until that right to choose includes all educational options for all families, regardless of race or income, our children are being denied the best choice for a high quality education," said Clarice Jackson, founder of the LEARN Coalition.
Event planners include School Choice Nebraska and the Nebraska Catholic Conference.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
