SALT LAKE CITY, June 11, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 200 local leaders are convening this week in Salt Lake City for the National League of Cities (NLC) summer board of directors meeting and policy forum. In addition to a business meeting for NLC's board of directors, the convening is a platform for members of the seven policy and advocacy steering committees to discuss the organization's federal action priorities and policy positions. The convening is being held at the Grand America Hotel June 9-12.

The summer leadership meeting includes a number of mobile workshops for visiting city leaders to see how Salt Lake City is innovating in areas including transportation and sustainability.

During the convening, the steering committees will consider amendments NLC's National Municipal Policy, which will be voted on by the membership at the Annual Business Meeting in November at the Congress of Cities in Nashville, Tenn.
NLC's federal action priorities for 2015 are:
- Close the online sales tax loophole
- Invest in transportation priorities
- Protect Municipal Bonds
