Hundreds Expected at Student Showcase to Celebrate West Virginia School Choice Week
CHARLESTON, W.Va., Jan. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- With the recent focus on education in West Virginia, hundreds of students, educators, and community members will gather for a student showcase in celebration of West Virginia School Choice Week on Wednesday, Jan. 23 in what is likely to be the largest celebration of its kind in the state's history.
The event will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center's Little Theater and will bring a diverse array of students together in their celebration of school and education choice in the Mountain State.
This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.
"We could not be more excited to celebrate education choice here in West Virginia as a part of National School Choice Week," said Garrett Ballengee, executive director of the Cardinal Institute for West Virginia Policy. "School choice is vital not only for ensuring each child gets the education that best suits his or her needs, but it will also be a catalyst for West Virginia's economic revitalization."
The event is being organized by the Cardinal Institute for West Virginia Policy, a nonprofit dedicated to researching, developing, and communicating effective public policies for West Virginia in partnership with West Virginia Voices for Education Choices, a coalition of parents, students, and community leaders in support of education choice.
As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
