Humana Healthy Horizons® in Louisiana Achieves Maternal Mental Health 'Whole Mom' Status

The insurer is the first in the country to earn this designation.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health ("the Policy Center") announced today that Humana Healthy Horizons® in Louisiana has been recognized as an Accredited Whole Mom Insurer, effective October 1, 2026-September 30, 2027. Humana Healthy Horizons® in Louisiana met the requirements outlined in the Policy Center's Whole Mom Insurer^TM Standards for the "Accredited" tier, demonstrating a comprehensive commitment to improving maternal mental health for the members it serves.

By implementing the six core domains of the Whole Mom Insurer Standards, Humana Healthy Horizons® in Louisiana has demonstrated leadership in advancing maternal mental health through coverage, quality improvement, provider engagement, care coordination, member education, and accountability. This achievement is a model for how health plans can support the integration of maternal mental health into routine maternity care and improve outcomes for mothers and infants.

Supporting women's mental health is an essential part of improving maternal health. Approximately one in five women experience anxiety, depression, or other mental health conditions during pregnancy or the first year postpartum. Access to timely, coordinated care can make a meaningful difference for women, their infants, and their families. Health plans can help by promoting early identification, expanding access to behavioral health services, strengthening provider networks, and coordinating care throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.
