Human Rights Campaign Names PG&E One Of The Best Places To Work
Utility receives perfect score on Corporate Equality Index for the tenth year in a row
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) has been named one of the best places to work by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization. For ten years in a row, PG&E received a 100 percent rating on HRC's annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the utility's consistently strong commitment to embrace diversity and inclusion.
"We congratulate PG&E on their tenth year in a row at a 100% on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index," said Deena Fidas, Workplace Project deputy director at HRC. "PG&E continues to be a leader for LGBT workplace equality."
In compiling the CEI report, HRC surveyed the top-grossing 1,000 publicly traded companies and the top 200 revenue-grossing law firms on their inclusive policies, practices and benefits for LGBT employees.
PG&E received perfect scores in all four key areas: equal employment opportunity policy, employment benefits, organizational LGBT competency, and public commitment on recruiting, supplier diversity and public support for LGBT equality under the law.
"At PG&E, we work every day to promote an inclusive culture and diverse workforce—one that better reflects the diversity of our customers, works to meet different customer needs and builds a strong and diverse supply chain," said Laura Butler, PG&E's vice president in talent management and chief diversity officer. "This honor from such a highly regarded organization for ten years in a row is a credit to our commitment to living our values while providing safe and reliable gas and electric service to our customers."
The Human Rights Campaign is the latest in a number of organizations that have recognized PG&E for its commitment to diversity and inclusion. PG&E was recently ranked among the top 100 military-friendly employers by G.I. Jobs Magazine. It was also recognized by DiversityInc magazine as the "Top Regional Utility for Diversity" and one of its "Top 10 Companies in Supplier Diversity."
