Hujiang EdTech CEO Arnold Fu Appointed As Only Chinese Juror at WISE 2017
DOHA, Qatar, Nov. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Arnold Fu, CEO of Hujiang EdTech ("Hujiang" or "the company"), China's leading online education company, has been invited to serve as a Juror for this year's World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) which will be held in Doha on November 15 and 16. The only Chinese juror on the panel, Arnold will deliver a speech sharing his experience in how education innovation has helped narrow the education gap in China, particularly for children and teachers in rural schools.
Established by the Qatar Foundation, WISE is an international initiative that aims to transform education through innovation. The two-day event will unite global experts, researchers, and innovators from multiple sectors to share, discuss, and present their ideas in education. Arnold Fu is the only person from China and one of two entrepreneurs to join the jury that will evaluate entries for the 2017 WISE Awards, which will recognize six projects that address global education challenges.
"I'm very honored to be selected as a juror for the 2017 WISE Awards. I look forward to reviewing all of the inspiring entries and learning about how they are facing educational challenges around the world," said Arnold Fu. He also noted that he will continue to dedicate himself to promoting innovation in education because he believes that the key to alleviating poverty is access to a quality education.
This is not the first time that Arnold Fu has been singled out for distinction by WISE. Last year, he was listed among the top 50 on the "Makers and Shakers of Education Technology Index" by the group. "The Index recognizes thinkers and doers who have pioneered innovative approaches to addressing challenges in education," explained Stavros N. Yiannouka, CEO of WISE.
The recognition made by WISE after a lifetime spend on improving access to quality education. As the founder, chairman, and CEO of Hujiang EdTech, Arnold Fu has devoted his career to developing technology for online education and has built the company to become a unicorn in the online education industry with a valuation of over US$1 billion and an audience of more than 160 million users.
In addition, Arnold advocates for the eradication of poverty through the Hu+(Hujia) project, which is an education charity program initiated by his company Hujiang. The project aims to change the traditional model of education with the use of education technology. As a result, a huge number of more than one million Chinese students from over 3,000 rural schools in 30 provinces now have access to quality educational resources through the online platform developed by Hujiang. "This methodology could be widely adopted on a global scale. If we can promote this solution at an international scale, it will bring us one step closer to achieving equality in global education," Arnold said.
