Hughes Receives Euroconsult Award as Broadband Satellite Operator of the Year

Jury recognizes Hughes business achievements and strong prospects for the future

GERMANTOWN, Md., Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Hughes Communications, Inc. (HUGHES), the global leader in broadband satellite networks and services, today announced that it has been recognized by Euroconsult as Broadband Satellite Operator of the Year for its outstanding performance in 2009 and strong prospects for the future. Pradman Kaul, president and CEO of Hughes, accepted the award earlier today at a luncheon ceremony during the 14th World Summit for Satellite Financing, held at the Hotel Westin in Paris, France.

The award is one in a series for Excellence in Satellite Management, and which are based on an objective assessment of specific performance indicators by a jury of experts from Satellite Finance, Space News, and Euroconsult. As part of the awards process, companies were assessed and benchmarked on performance and then were evaluated through a second round of qualitative criteria.

Earlier in the day, Grant Barber, CFO of Hughes, participated on a panel entitled "CFOs Priorities in the Current Business Climate," and on Thursday, September 9th, Mr. Kaul will be participating on the CEO panel, "Broadband Satellite Operators."
