Hudson's Bay Company donates $200,000 to disaster relief efforts in the Philippines
TORONTO, Nov. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) announced today a donation of $200,000 to the Canadian Red Cross and American Red Cross to support relief efforts in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The donation includes funds raised through HBC's 'Donate your Points' campaign, customer donations, and contributions from the HBC Foundation, LT Foundation and Saks Foundation.
HBC's Donate your Points campaign allows customers and Associates in Canada to donate their Rewards points to support the disaster relief efforts. Customers can donate their points at any Hudson's Bay or Home Outfitters store or online at www.hbcrewards.com, and HBC will convert all collected points to cash and donate to the Canadian Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Fund.
In the US, Lord & Taylor is making it easy for customers and Associates to support the American Red Cross through direct donations at points of sale in all stores. Donations can also be made at http://redcross.org/lordandtaylor-pub.
"Red Cross volunteers and staff are working around the clock to help families who have been affected by Typhoon Haiyan," said Conrad Sauvé, secretary general and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross. "We are thankful to Hudson's Bay Company for their contribution to our humanitarian mission."
"Thanks to the generosity of the HBC, Lord & Taylor, and Saks Foundations, the Red Cross is able to provide critical support to Typhoon Haiyan survivors in the Philippines now and as they rebuild and recover," said Neal Litvack, Chief Development Officer at the American Red Cross.
"Our thoughts are with the people of the Philippines and all those affected by this tragic event,' says Richard Baker, Governor & CEO, Hudson's Bay Company. "As a company, HBC has established an ongoing commitment to emergency disaster response around the world, and we will continue to support the important and much-needed work done by both the Canadian and American Red Cross organizations."
