~ Top NYC Strength & Wellness Gurus Will Kick Off a Day to Give Back and Get Your Fitness On in New York's Park for Play
NEW YORK, May 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2nd annual Hudson River Park Games will take place on Saturday, May 21st from 8am to 7pm in Hudson River Park, which stretches from 59th Street to Chambers Street on Manhattan's West Side. Presented by the non-profit Friends of Hudson River Park, The Games are a one-of-a-kind fundraising experience and celebration of sport that fills the piers in New York's Park for Play with pulse-raising athletic challenges while raising critical funds to support the Park's recreational programing and resources.
The signature event of The 2016 Games is Fear the Pier—a body-busting timed obstacle course that dares participants to reach—and beat—their personal best in this summer's must-do fitness experience. This epic NYC fitness challenge is the ultimate outdoor endurance adventure. Uniquely designed to deliver a heart-pumping adrenaline rush for skilled elite athletes, while at the same time being accessible for the average fitness buff looking for a fun new way to pump things up a notch or two. Unlike any fitness challenge ever offered in the park before, Fear the Pier is built-to-thrill against the backdrop of the majestic Hudson River, graced by New York City's iconic skyline.
Top New York City fitness gurus will help get things kicked off from 8am to 9am on Saturday, May 21st by tackling Fear the Pier themselves and encouraging fans to set their own personal bests throughout the day. Fear the Pier is open to all New Yorkers and visitors to the City. There's even a free BarkBox Dogstacle Course so pooches can "paw-ticipate" and get their fitness on!
"What's so exciting about Fear the Pier is that it challenges everyone in a fun and truly energizing way to tap into that unique New York Spirit that's all about being and doing your best," said Gregory Boroff, Executive Director of Friends of Hudson River Park. "Every single run on Fear the Pier raises critical funds to support New York's Park for Play. We can't wait to celebrate with ALL New Yorkers as they kick-start their summer fitness regimes with the City's coolest, most awesome outdoor fitness challenge."
