Hudson Group Makes Yearend Donations to School Charities

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Dec. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- During its recent Management Seminar & Vendor Show at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas last week, Hudson Group presented its annual contribution, a check for $300,000, to Communities In Schools (CIS). Board Chair Elaine Wynn was on hand to accept the donation. Throughout the year, Hudson stores in airports, bus and rail terminals collect the money in countertop boxes that encourage customers to donate their spare change to aid the charity.

Hudson President & CEO Joe DiDomizio told Mrs. Wynn: "We have been working with CIS for six years, and we have tremendous respect for the results you achieve with young people: 99% of your kids remain in school. It's a great cause, and we are always amazed at the generosity of our customers in their support of it."

This year, Mrs. Wynn and CIS were featured in the Forbes magazine special issue on Philanthropy, now on newsstands. Communities In Schools, based in Arlington, Virginia, is the nation's leading dropout prevention group, surrounding local kids with an entire community of support. The organization serves 1.3 million at-risk students through nearly 200 local affiliates in 26 states and the District of Columbia. It is particularly active in those cities where Hudson has operations.

Following the show, some 150 Hudson Group vendors donated 15 pallets of merchandise to local Las Vegas schools to benefit underserved children.

The collection and distribution of the toys, clothing, school supplies, books and electronics was supervised by Hudson joint venture partners Cliff and Lorraine Marshall of AC, LLC, who operate Hudson News stores in Las Vegas International Airport.

The Las Vegas schools and organizations that benefitted from the donations were: K.P. Fitzgerald Elementary, Valley View Cares, West Prep Academy, Pearson Community Center and 100 Academy of Excellence
