Hudl Acquires Video Analysis Company Ubersense
Adds top training app to its arsenal
LINCOLN, Neb., Sept. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hudl, a sports video software company headquartered in Lincoln, has made its fourth acquisition in purchasing Ubersense, a Boston company specializing in interactive video analysis and instruction.
Ubersense was founded in 2011 with the vision to put world-class coaching in everyone's hands. More than 2.5 million users have installed the Ubersense app for iOS, gaining access to video analysis tools, such as slow-motion review, drawings, and voiceovers. The team's Android app is in beta testing and will launch in October.
The app helps athletes and coaches record and review video, and engage with their peers in a global community serving more than 50 sports. In addition to millions of amateur and professional athletes, the app is used by Olympians in more than 20 sports.
"The team behind Ubersense has built the best platform for analyzing technique and tracking performance for individual athletes," said John Wirtz, Hudl's Chief Product Officer. "Their tools and community are the perfect complement to Hudl's strengths in team sports."
With the acquisition, Hudl becomes the largest online community for coaches and athletes in the world. The Ubersense team has already joined Hudl and will work to integrate the two platforms to provide a seamless experience.
"For us, joining forces with Hudl made a lot of sense strategically. We will be able to accelerate our momentum through Hudl's expertise and relationships," said Ubersense CEO, Krishna Ramchandran.
"We're excited to have the eight members of the Ubersense team join the Hudl family, and to add a Boston office," said David Graff, Hudl's CEO. "Boston has a deep talent base in sports and technology, and we're excited to aggressively grow the team there."
