LINCOLN, Neb., July 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- This week, Hudl announced the acquisition of Digital Sports Video (DSV), a well-established video editing company based in Reno, Nev. DSV has built a loyal customer base of more than 3,000 high schools and has more than 10 years of experience in sports video.
This acquisition brings a great deal of excitement to Hudl as there are great benefits to consolidating DSV and Hudl's customer bases:
- More teams to exchange video with. DSV touts some of the nation's best sports programs and now coaches will be able to instantly trade film with them.
- A broader pool of athletes with video for recruiters. This is a win-win for everyone. More athletes means more video, which in turn means more exposure to recruiters (and vice versa).
- Even better tools for coaches. Hudl will be incorporating feedback from both of our companies' experiences and all of their coaches' knowledge to make Hudl even better.
Why did Hudl decide to acquire DSV?
Hudl CEO David Graff felt that the two companies had a great deal in common – both companies had built a broad, passionate, and loyal customer base and both had the same ultimate goal: help coaches win. However, Hudl's products are in a better long-term position to help coaches do that.
Technologically, Hudl's team will be able to better react to new advances and incorporate them into Hudl. Hudl's products were built from the ground up to work well online and with new mobile technologies like Apple's iOS and Google's Android platforms. That's where the sports video industry is headed.
What does this mean for the future of Hudl?
Hudl's mission and values remain unchanged: help coaches and their teams win. That means creating new and amazing experiences around our products, staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, and providing world-class support.
"This acquisition is a great opportunity for Hudl," said David Graff, CEO Hudl. "With an even larger number of teams using Hudl, we will be able to accomplish a lot of really cool ideas that we have in the works."
