Huawei Launches Appliance for Large Database for Running SAP® S/4HANA
Launch underscores the growing partnership and collaboration between SAP and Huawei in the areas of enterprise management and cloud services
ORLANDO, Fla., May 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei today announced its Appliance for Large Database in support of SAP® Business Suite 4 SAP HANA® (SAP S/4HANA), the next-generation business suite, based on Huawei's FusionServer RH8100 mission-critical server. The announcement was made at the SAPPHIRE® NOW conference being held May 5-7 in Orlando, Fla., where Huawei is exhibiting in booth 439.
Today's announcement underscores the partnership and collaboration between SAP and Huawei in the areas of enterprise management and cloud services.
The Huawei FusionServer RH8100 is designed to provide enterprise management and cloud services through specific support for SAP S/4HANA, while reducing total cost of ownership (TCO). SAP S/4HANA is fully built on the SAP HANA platform and offers a personalized user experience with SAP Fiori®. The FusionServer RH8100 gives enterprises the capability to perform reliable, real-time and accurate business analysis for their operations; and builds simple, easy-to-use and flexible enterprise cloud services using SAP S/4HANA. The FusionServer RH8100 uses the latest Intel® Xeon® E7 8800-v3 series processors with Haswell-EX architecture, and delivers high reliability and availability similar to what Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) can deliver.

Specifically, with the Huawei Appliance for Large Database based on the FusionServer RH8100 for SAP S/4HANA, enterprises will gain:
- Strong Reliability: With up to 60 Reliability, Availability and Serviceability (RAS) features such as online memory migration, memory module hot-swapping and redundancy system design, the RH8100 server has the ability to support long-term stable operation at the temperature of 40 degrees C (104 degrees F).
- Robust Performance: Designed for hardware accelerating log volumes of SAP HANA, the RH8100 server provides lower latency and higher Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS) than existing high-performance Peripheral Component Interconnect Express-based (PCIe) Solid State Drives (SSDs) technology, especially suitable for SAP S/4HANA-based OLTP scenarios.
- Enhanced Flexibility: The RH8100 server matches on-demand use of user services with up to 12 TB of memory capacity and 16 PCIe slots. With its partition function, it is also able to divide into two 4-socket servers to flexibly meet the demands of businesses, enhance efficiency, and protect investments.
- Convenient Maintenance and Upgrades: The modularized design for the RH8100 enables simplification of maintenance and operation, leading to time-saving deployments and TCO savings.
