HTC VIVE Opens Viveport Subscription Service To Oculus Rift Users Today
The Gallery Episode 1 and 2, and Apex Construct added to Viveport Subscription
Ready Player One Oasis upgrades and DLC coming soon to subscription
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Viveport, HTC VIVE™'s global platform, app store and subscription service, today began distributing content compatible with the Oculus Rift in addition to the HTC Vive. Starting today, consumers can download and purchase hundreds of games and apps from the Viveport store to use with their Rift headset. In addition, Oculus Rift users can now become Viveport Subscriber members, choosing five titles a month from a library of popular titles.
Viveport boasts a curated library of over 1,400 diverse VR titles with 500 available in the subscription service. As of today, over 200 titles have tested favorably for compatibility with the Oculus Rift, allowing Rift owners to start enjoying the benefits of Viveport and Viveport Subscription. For developers, this effectively doubles the target audience for Viveport content.
"With Viveport Subscription, Oculus Rift owners can avoid two of virtual reality's most discussed issues – trialing new content and cost," said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport. "By choosing five titles a month from Viveport Subscription's curated library, consumers can discover great VR content while saving hundreds of dollars. We are just getting started on supporting Oculus Rift owners and look forward to continue adding content to the Viveport line-up."
New Viveport Subscription Content
Starting today, Oculus Rift owners have access to new premium content available in Viveport Subscription such as Cloudhead Games' The Gallery – Episode 1: Call of the Starseed and The Gallery – Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone, and Fast Travel Games' Apex Construct. Other popular titles on Viveport for Rift and Vive owners include Seeking Dawn, Fruit Ninja, Knockout League, Tiltbrush, Pixel Ripped 1989 and BOXVR. Oculus Rift owners can start their free trial today and play 5 games for no charge.
"We're thrilled to be bringing The Gallery – Episode 1: Call of the Starseed and The Gallery – Episode 2: Heart of the Emberstone to Viveport Subscription," said Jo Dunlop at Cloudhead Games. "Launching on Viveport Subscription enables a whole new audience to have access to our content for the first time, further expanding and enriching our community."
In addition, Vive Studios' Ready Player One: OASIS beta will receive a significant update this month, for both Vive and Oculus Rift owners. In this upgrade, players will be able to customize their own highly detailed OASIS personas in the new Avatar Creator while experiencing new levels in Battle for the OASIS, Smash, Fracture and Gauntlet, totaling an additional 15+ hours of gameplay. Ready Player One: OASIS beta's content upgrade and all new DLC will be available for $19.99 and included in Viveport Subscription soon.
Oculus Rift and HTC Vive owners eager to start their Viveport Subscription journey can also now get a great deal with the Best in Both Worlds offer starting today. From September 4 to September 16 11:59pm PDT, customers who buy a 3-month, 6-month, or 12-month Subscription bundle (currently available for a 25% discount over the month to month price) will get additional free titles to keep forever for their content library as follows:
