HSBC Junior Golfers to shine at IMG Academy World Junior Championships
SAN DIEGO, July 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Six Chinese talented junior golfers from CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Program were determined to put up a great show when they competed against the best junior golfers of the world in 2015 IMG Academy World Junior Championships on July 11-14 in San Diego.
As the only officially sanctioned junior golf program in China, CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Program launched by the China Golf Association (CGA) and HSBC in 2007 have made significant impact on China golf. It is designed as a sustainable plan to promote the long-term development of junior golf in China through its forward-thinking concepts and systematic introduction of tournaments, training and promotions.
Since its inception in 2007, CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Program has served as a platform of growth for budding junior golf talents. More and more promising younger player are making the breakthrough on the international stage, such as Guan Tianlang, Li Haotong, Lin Xinyu, Ye Wocheng,Yan Jing, Shi Yuting. At 14 years, 5 months of age, Guan is the youngest to make the cut in the Masters. Li became the first Chinese member of the Web.com Tour. As for Lin Xinyu and Yan Jing, they both play the LPGA tour now.
CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Program has selected six elite golfers through the results of 2015 HSBC National Junior Golf Championship, 2015 HSBC China Junior Golf Open and CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Ranking. The six talented players - He Yihao, Han Yucen, Mao Zeting, Weng Junyu, Xiong Ruiheng, Liang Enqi, were all honored to get into 2015 IMG Academy World Junior Championships.
"This is my first time to go to World Junior Championships. I am definitely looking forward to playing against the best junior golfers around the world as I always believe the American players play awesome. Maybe I would feel nervous, as it is my first time to play such a big international event. I will try to keep calm and focus on my own game. Even if I can't win, I still think playing World Junior Championship would be a wonderful experience," Han Yucen said. The 16-years-old girl won twice in HSBC National Junior Golf Championship this year and moved into the top of CGA-HSBC China Junior Golf Ranking.
Founded in 1968, World Junior Championships is held in San Diego, California, USA each year. It is include tournaments for six age groups ranging from under-6 to 15-17 and for both boys and girls. Each age group plays at a separate course, ranging from a par-3 course for the youngest to Torrey Pines for the 15-17s, which is also the venue for the Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour and the site of the 2008 U.S. Open. Many world-class golf stars have won in the World Junior Championships, including Ernie Els, Phil Mickelson, Nick Price, Tiger Woods,Lorena Ochoa.
