HR Green's Bridget Osborn Honored As "2016 Professional Of The Year" And "2016 New Face Of Engineering"
ST. PAUL, Minn., Dec. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- HR Green's Bridget Osborn, PE, was recently honored at the ACEC National Conference in Colorado Springs, CO as "2016 Young Professional of the Year". Osborn was one of five honorees nationwide selected for this prestigious award. The ACEC Young Professional of the Year Award recognizes accomplishments of young engineers who already have made significant contributions to the industry despite being in the early stages of their careers. In addition, Bridget was also named to the 2016 class of New Faces of Engineering by DiscoverE, an organization that promotes engineering education throughout the U.S.
Osborn is a Water Resources Engineer in HR Green's St. Paul, MN office where she focuses on creating innovative solutions for storm water and runoff management. One example of her work was the design of iron-enhanced sand filter systems in a redeveloped brownfields area. The project earned a Project of the Year award from the Capitol Region Watershed District.
"This award confirms what we already knew, that Bridget is a bright, innovative and enthusiastic contributor to HR Green and to the profession of engineering in general," said Ajay Jain, Water Resources Practice Leader at HR Green.
Osborn's work doesn't end at the HR Green offices. She volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, her local watershed district (Rice Creek Watershed District), Great River Greening, and judges Minnesota Future City middle school engineering projects. She also gives talks on engineering to middle school, high school, and even collegiate level students.
"I love seeing the kids' faces when they reach that "Ah ha" moment; when they learn how engineering plays such an important role in their everyday life," said Bridget.
Osborn has two B.S. Degrees in Geology and Geological Engineering from the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She also holds a 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response certification.
