HOYOS Labs to Showcase Host of Biometrics Technologies at Connect:ID in Washington, D.C.
Biometrics-Based App and IEEE Biometric Open Protocol Standard to Add Extra Layers of Security to Enterprise and Consumer Data
NEW YORK, March 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- HOYOS Labs, a leading global authentication infrastructure and digital property management company, today announced that the Company will demonstrate multiple biometrics-based technologies under its identity assertion platform for both enterprise and consumers at Connect:ID on March 23 through 25, 2015, in Washington, D.C. HOYOS Labs will highlight the IEEE Biometric Open Protocol Standard; free biometrics-based consumer app, 1UTM; and enterprise access control system. BOPS was invented by HOYOS Labs and contributed to the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) for open source usage and adoption.
These technologies can be embedded into a company's existing server and app, allowing users to take advantage of secure authentication by replacing usernames and passwords with biometrics – facial, periocular, fingerprint and iris.
"We've found that enterprise systems in particular have a serious need for change when it comes to data security, digital access control and authentication," said Hector Hoyos, founder and CEO of HOYOS Labs. "Many companies use access control systems that require seemingly endless log-in resets, which do little to protect privileged company data. Through our constant development process, and after speaking with various organizations, we found that simple solutions for employee access control are lacking in the current digital security offerings. HOYOS Labs makes it our mission to solve this problem."
HOYOS Labs will be presenting the IEEE Biometric Open Protocol Standard (BOPS), which comprises a set of rules that govern secure communications among a variety of client devices including mobile phones, desktop computers and ATMs, among others, and a trusted server that manages the acquisition and manipulation of biometric data captured by those devices.
The Company has also developed a biometrics-based identity assertion platform, HOYOSID®, which is the basis for all of its technologies and can be embedded into existing software and apps. HOYOSID for corporations works in tandem with a company's server that has been made BOPS-compliant.
Under HOYOSID, 1UTM leverages a person's Android or iPhone device to acquire his or her biometrics to securely and conveniently protect online accounts (including banking) without utilizing extra gadgets or tokens, master passwords or central databases. 1U is available for download in the Apple App Store and in Google Play.
Lastly, HOYOS Labs will demonstrate its enterprise "Single Sign On" offering, which allows companies to replace all employee usernames and passwords with biometrics, thus removing the need to periodically change credentials that abide by complicated requirements. Companies can then limit access, set clearance levels, elevate security levels and even change "liveness" requirements at any time, either for individual employees or company-wide.
"At HOYOS Labs, our goal is to make the authentication process more convenient and secure at both the enterprise and consumer level," added Hoyos. "We are redefining what 'identity' means for the security community in general by developing technologies that utilize a person's unchangeable biometrics – the truest form of identity."
Connect:ID is a visionary event, powered by Science Media Partners and the International Biometrics & Identification Association (IBIA), and focuses on aspects of human identity and opportunities for its management in the physical and digital worlds. The expo will explore the development / fusion of multiple advanced identity technologies including secure credentials, biometrics and digital identity systems.
This year's event will take place on March 23 through 25, 2015, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. HOYOS Labs will be located at Booth No. 110.
