DENVER, Jan. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hower Family Fund of Colorado, a Centennial-based family foundation, raised $336,000 for affordable home energy in Colorado through a recent challenge grant to Energy Outreach Colorado, bringing the total collected over six years to nearly $1.1 million.

The Hower Family pledged to match up to $50,000 in new and increased gifts to Energy Outreach Colorado in October 2013 through the end of the year, and 2,169 qualifying donors contributed $336,000 in three months.
This is the sixth challenge grant the Hower Family Fund has extended to benefit Energy Outreach, a nonprofit that raises funds for energy bill payment assistance and energy efficiency programs for affordable housing and nonprofit facilities across Colorado. In total, the Hower Family's grants have raised nearly $1.1 million for the organization.
