Howard University College of Medicine Announces Commemorative Dinner to Celebrate its 150th Anniversary
WASHINGTON, Oct. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Howard University College of Medicine will host its 150th Anniversary Gala to Celebrate 150 Years of Excellence in Education, Service and Research, on Friday, November 9, 2018, scheduled 6 p.m. at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, 201 Waterfront Street, National Harbor, MD 20745.
The Gala will include a reception, silent auction, special program, entertainment, dinner and dance. This commemorative event will pay tribute to the faculty, staff and students who have dedicated their lives to the mission of excellence that is the cornerstone of Howard University.

On November 9, 1868, the Howard University College of Medicine opened its red-framed wooden doors on Georgia Avenue to eight students and five faculty members. Since its founding, the College of Medicine has educated more than 8,000 physicians of all ethnicities and creeds. Today, enrollment consists of 465 students.
Howard University is America's No. 1 institution for producing Black applicants to U.S. medical schools, according to data from the Association of American Medical Colleges. In the 2017-18 academic year, 118 Howard undergraduates applied to U.S. medical schools, ahead of all other colleges and universities.
