ELK GROVE, Calif., May 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ADEPT Driver, a California company that produces teenSMART®, a proven crash reduction program, announced a new How to Be teenSMART contest to encourage teen drivers to share their teenSMART experience and raise awareness about the dangers of risky driving during the summer months between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
"Memorial Day kicks off the 100 deadliest days for teen drivers. We want teens to hear from their peers that risky driving is not cool, and that summer is a good time to become teenSMART," said Dr. Richard Harkness, CEO of ADEPT Driver. "We encourage young drivers that have completed teenSMART to tell other teens to stop risky driving this summer and to encourage them to learn how to avoid crashes. We look forward to announcing the winner of the How to Be teenSMART contest at the end of summer, and sharing their message about safe driving all year round."
Teen drivers that complete teenSMART improve their safe driving skills and reduce their crash risk. The teenSMART program addresses the six factors that cause more than 90% of all teen auto collisions.
Teen and young adult drivers that have completed teenSMART are encouraged to produce and submit original creative material that raises awareness about risky driving and how the teenSMART program has made them a safer driver.
Submissions to the How to Be teenSMART contest may be in the form of a video, song, Prezi, PowerPoint, poster, social media campaign, vine, essay or other form that will appeal to a teen/young adult audience. All submissions must be tasteful and appropriate for public use. All submissions must be received by ADEPT Driver by September 1, 2016.
The contest winner will be awarded a $500 prize and a complementary teenSMART program registration that will be activated for a person selected by the contest winner so they can share the gift of safe driving.
"We invite any teen or young adult who has completed teenSMART to enter the How to Be teenSMART contest," continued Dr. Harkness. "The winning submission will be shared with other young drivers and all of our company's partners. Your participation will help ensure that teen drivers are not added to the statistics during the '100 deadly days' and are safe on the road throughout the year."
