How Much is that Doggy in the Harvey Nichols Window?
LONDON, Dec. 15, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Today DDB UK reveals its "tongue-in-chic" Christmas video for Harvey Nichols.
Forget killer heels, "It" bags and statement jewelry, the must-have accessories this Christmas are canine, with Harvey Nichols gift-wrapped Pugs, Chihuahuas and Cavapoos! As Harvey Nichols always stocks the hottest and most desirable items, it would appear these must-have accessories are coming to a Harvey Nichols store near you.
As one would expect from Harvey Nichols advertising, don't believe everything you see.
Entitled "Not Just for Christmas," the video is a humorous send-up of the fashionistas who don't just accessorize their dogs, they use the dogs to accessorize themselves. Set in the Harvey Nichols flagship Knightsbridge store, the satire plays on this trend, which thanks to Paris Hilton and her pampered pooch we have seen explode into the fashion and celebrity world over the last few years, especially in LA.
In this fantasy world we see a number of scenes playing on the idea of a pooch as the ultimate fashion accessory. And whether it be this season's "It" bag with a pre-installed Chihuahua or the perfect accessory Cavalier King Charles Spaniel to complement a fiery redhead's mane, this year's Christmas definitely comes wrapped in a Harvey Nichols Christmas bow.
Julia Bowe, Marketing Communications Director at Harvey Nichols, comments, "We wanted to create a feel-good Christmas message that pokes fun at the absurd lengths to which some fashionistas will go to accessorize their outfits. During filming the dogs had a great time and so did we."
The video will be sent out to all Harvey Nichols friends, customers and suppliers. It will also be hosted on the Harvey Nichols site and Harvey Nichols YouTube channel.
Please be aware:
Harvey Nichols does not sell animals of any sort in their stores and they do not condone the buying or giving of a dog as a gift in the manner of a bag or accessory.
During the production of this film there was a vet present and on hand to approve all scenes. A professional handler sourced the dogs and was also present to ensure all the dogs were happy, safe and not put in any distress.
