The U.S. stock market extended its winning streak on Thursday, recording its best two-day gains in last three years. The rally in U.S. started on Wednesday after Federal Reserve's Chairwoman Janet Yellen assured the markets that the central bank would be patient about lifting interest rate. The S&P 500 advanced 2.43%, Dow Jones Industrial Average moved up 2.40%, and Nasdaq Composite ended the session 2.24% up. The European stocks also surged, recording their strongest daily gain in three years, supported by a rise in Greek shares. The rebound in oil prices, dovish statement of Federal Reserve and calmness in Russian market also boosted European markets. Most Asian stock markets ended higher as investors were encouraged to take more risk following the positive stimulus led by the U.S. Federal Reserve statement.
Pacific Biosciences of California, Inc.'s (Pacific Biosciences) recently published research paper, entitled 'Resolving the complexity of the human genome using single-molecule sequencing' reveals how researchers used Single Molecule, Real-Time (SMRT) Sequencing technology to identify and resolve missing or misassembled regions of the human genome as well as to access more complex forms of variation not covered by other sequencing technologies.
Manufacturer of highly-engineered products, Park-Ohio Holdings Corp. (Park-Ohio), announced that it has completed the acquisition of Saet S.p.A. for approx. $20.7 million in cash. The strategic acquisition has been done for ParkOhio's induction equipment business Ajax Tocco Magnethermic (ATM).
Perceptron, Inc. (Perceptron) reported $21.7 million of bookings in first quarter of fiscal 2015 - the highest quarterly bookings in the Company's history, driven by an exceptional amount of business booked in the Americas. Backlog at the end of the quarter at $49.8 million was also a new record high; rising $13.9 million from a year earlier.
PGT, Inc. (PGT) was named a Top Honoree of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce "2014 Salute to Business Awards" in the Hiring Our Neighbors category. The PGT was recognized as one of three companies in the area whose local employee growth in 2014 was among the highest since the recession.
