Political Unrest Pushes Stocks Down

Following the failed attempts of Greek President Kerolos Papoulias to form a coalition government between party leaders at the weekend, European stocks opened lower yesterday morning (Monday 14 May) as investors sold banks and resource stocks.

By 10:30am BST, the German DAX 30 and the French CAC 40 had fallen over 1.88% and 2.11% respectively.

With the fate of both Greece and the eurozone remaining unclear; investor confidence is low across many European stocks.
