HOUSTON, Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- After 31 years and the delivery of more than 7,000 babies at The Woman's Hospital of Texas, Dr. Rachel Thompson's last patient to deliver, Emily Sheffield, was a patient who Dr. Thompson delivered on May 12, 1992. Parents Emily Sheffield and Randall Adlong of Mont Belvieu, Texas, welcomed Reagan Tyler Adlong into the world on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 11:39 a.m. at The Woman's Hospital of Texas.
"Dr. Thompson has been amazing," said new mom Emily Sheffield. "I couldn't have asked for a better physician. I am sad that she won't be delivering my next child."
The Woman's Hospital of Texas and Dr. Thompson have been a significant part of baby Reagan Tyler Adlong's family. Grandmother Cheryl Klaus has been a patient of Dr. Thompson's for 31 years and Dr. Thompson delivered her three children at The Woman's Hospital of Texas. All three of Cheryl's grandchildren were delivered at The Woman's Hospital of Texas.
"Dr. Thompson and The Woman's Hospital of Texas have provided me with a lifetime of care and now my children and grandchildren are receiving care here," said Cheryl Klaus. "I didn't want my daughters to be with anyone else. I would love to see Dr. Thompson deliver all of my grandbabies. She is a big part of our family."
"The most rewarding aspect of the practice of OB/GYN for me has been the establishment of long term relationships with patients," said Dr. Rachel Thompson. "It has been particularly satisfying to deliver babies for the young women I delivered, and to share the stages of our lives with their mothers."
"The Woman's Hospital of Texas is well respected throughout the region because of physicians like Dr. Rachel Thompson," said Ashley McClellan, CEO of The Woman's Hospital of Texas. "Many of Dr. Thompson's patients have trusted her to care for their daughters over the years. We are honored to have played a special part in the lives of so many families for the last 40 years."
Dr. Rachel Thompson's last day to see patients at Houston Women's Care Associates is Monday, February 29, 2016.
