Firm focusing on complex transactions, opens New Orleans office
HOUSTON and NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Prominent tax and project finance attorney Don Looper and energy attorney J. Wayne Ballew Jr. are expanding the firm they formed earlier this year with the addition of New Orleans offshore oil and gas lawyer Paul (P.J.) Goodwine and his legal team. The newly renamed Looper Goodwine & Ballew P.C. will have offices in Houston and New Orleans.
The firm will continue to focus on complex transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, both internationally and domestically, in energy and other sectors.
"We are building a great M&A and energy transactions practice for middle-market clients," says Mr. Looper. "We have the ability to provide the same level of sophistication found in transactional groups at large law firms."
With more than 30 years of experience in international law, Mr. Looper has structured and managed projects in over 30 countries. His work includes helping U.S. companies navigate treaty issues and manage acquisitions and tax matters overseas. His clients run the gamut, from upstream and midstream companies to foreign businesses investing in U.S. assets.
Mr. Goodwine has an extensive track record in a wide variety of oil and gas matters, with an emphasis on offshore regulatory matters. He also represents independent exploration and production companies and service companies in significant transactions and litigation.
Mr. Ballew is a petroleum engineer who leads the firm's energy projects with a unique understanding of the oil and gas industry. He has significant experience in energy financing transactions, acquisitions and divestitures, as well as in representing international investors and companies in global joint ventures.
Mr. Ballew says the firm's "energetic, talented lawyers bring business and legal skill sets that stand out in the energy sector."
Mr. Goodwine says he and Mr. Looper met while working on a transaction and realized they had "complementary philosophies regarding the practice of law and serving clients. Together we bring many strengths and years of diverse experience."
Formed in 2014, Looper Goodwine & Ballew P.C. offers sophisticated transactional expertise for its clients.
