Houston-based designer Elaine Turner Donates to Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts
HOUSTON, Sept. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Staying true to her brand purpose of using fashion as a platform to give back and change lives, Houston-based designer Elaine Turner announced it will donate 10% of its sales, online and retail, to the American Red Cross. They will also donate 100% of sales from their "Longhorn Charm" of the Southern Charm Bar Jewelry Collection, and 100% of sales from their custom designed "Texas Strong" tee-shirt to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund through September 30th.
Turner's four Houston-area stores are now re-open for business and ready to join the community again despite being closed for six days due to the storm. All boutiques in Houston, including our San Antonio, Southlake, and Plano boutiques, are now accepting lightly-worn clothing and toiletry donations. As a head-to-toe lifestyle luxury brand based out of Houston, Elaine Turner is in a unique position to donate and provide clothing and toiletries to victims in the area. Additionally, in the coming weeks and months, Turner plans on adding to their Harvey recovery efforts by partnering up with local charities to raise money and awareness for Harvey relief.
"As a business owner in Houston, it's been hard to deal with this tragedy for not only my city but our business as well," Turner says. "However, we're ready to use our fashion platform, real estate, and online presence to help those affected by Harvey. I have faith in our community and in the state of Texas- we will come back together stronger than ever!"
Elaine Turner founded her business in 2000 with husband, Jim, after working in an apparel design company in New York. As a native Houstonian born-and-raised in the city, Turner opened her first boutique in Houston's Rice Village District in 2007 and a second store in Houston's CityCentre plaza in 2011. In the following three years, two more Houston-area stores opened, totaling four stores in the city.
"Houston is my home," Turner says. "The past few days I've never seen such a catastrophic hit to our city but it's also inspiring to see the community unite together and rise up against adversity for a common cause: to help those in need. That's the Texas pride and can-do spirit that I know and love so well. I instantly knew after seeing the negative impact the hurricane had on so many lives, that we had to step up, alongside our city, and donate to the victims of Hurricane Harvey in an impactful way."
