At the fastest hotel, Barcelona City Centre, you can expect a Wi-Fi speed of 58.6 Mbps and the travel time to the venue is 31 minutes. The closest tested hotel, Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel, is within walking distance from the venue (6 minutes) and has an expected Wi-Fi speed of 12 Mbps. Both hotels are sold out.
Studies continually show that Wi-Fi is a key amenity for most travellers, but for Mobile World Congress attendees (46,000 C-Level leaders and 3,900+ press members out of 85,000 attendees in 2014), decent hotel Wi-Fi becomes a critical feature.
Another unique feature of this service is that it combines information about Wi-Fi quality at a hotel with another extremely important factor that is not easily available at other booking sites: the travel time from the hotel to the exhibition venue. A typical exhibition day doesn't leave much time for anything else, so any extra time you can save really counts.
The travel time is calculated by assuming that public transport is used, which is recommended during the Mobile World Congress because of traffic jams and the shortage of taxis. It also assumes that attendees wish to arrive at the exhibition on the first day, March 2, 2015, for 9am.
Most experienced Mobile World Congress attendees book their accommodation almost one year in advance. Therefore, even those who have already booked their reservations might find this service useful in planning for MWC 2016.
