COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- U-Haul® recently acquired the 181,826-square-foot former Ramada Inn® at 4900 Sinclair Road and is in the process of finalizing details for a full-service moving and self-storage facility.
U-Haul Moving & Storage of Northland began offering truck and trailer sharing, moving supplies and U-Box portable moving and storage containers on Dec. 10 out of a temporary showroom. U-Haul closed on the property Nov. 8.
Located directly off Interstate 71 at exit 116 and just five miles north of The Ohio State University, the newest U-Haul center in Columbus will cater to college students and residents in northern Columbus neighborhoods in need of self-move and self-storage services.
Contact U-Haul Moving & Storage of Northland at (614) 433-7335 or stop by to visit general manager Chris Arndt and his team. Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. every day. Reserve equipment at uhaul.com or contact Reservations at 1-800-GO-UHAUL.
"I grew up in this neighborhood, so I'm excited to be part of the beautification efforts for this area," said Dean Haske, U-Haul Company of Ohio president. "This building has been empty for more than two years. It's time someone put some love back into it."
Renovation plans call for the creation of about 750 indoor climate-controlled self-storage units with high-tech security features at affordable price points. Self-storage will be available by 2019. Propane, towing equipment and professional hitch installation will also be offered in the near future.
"Columbus is a great city. Our neighborhoods don't deserve to have graffiti-covered buildings sitting around and becoming outdated," Haske said. "We're excited to make our community look more welcoming while serving the moving and storage needs of the residents and students here."
When the location is fully operational, Haske expects to employ at least 10 Team Members. U-Haul will look to hire locally to promote job growth in the Columbus area.
The recent acquisition of the 6.87-acre Northland property was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-building materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.
