HOSTING Outperforms Cloud Heavyweights in Independent Analysis
HOSTING beats industry leaders AWS and Rackspace in CPU, disk and network tests in Cloud Spectator report
DENVER, July 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- HOSTING, a leading provider of managed cloud services, consistently performs better, faster and more reliably than cloud behemoths Amazon and Rackspace, according to an independent analysis by Cloud Spectator.
According to the July report, Cloud Analysis: Performance Benchmarks of Linux & Windows Environments, "HOSTING performs 67% greater than Rackspace, and 167% greater than Amazon in overall system performance (using Windows)." When the Linux operating system was used, HOSTING also came out on top, with 70% better overall performance than either Amazon or Rackspace.
"HOSTING's superior performance is based on our disciplined architecture and operational rigor, employed to provide the best customer experience possible," said Art Zeile, CEO at HOSTING. "We are pleased to receive this validation from Cloud Spectator."
Cloud Spectator compared the HOSTING Cloud Enterprise, Amazon AWS and Rackspace OpenCloud computing environments during 14 days of benchmark testing on CPU, disk and network performance.
When Cloud Spectator looked at individual components that determine system performance, HOSTING was clearly superior. Of those components, CPU performance is the most important determinant. A high-performing CPU reduces the time needed to crunch big data into meaningful results. According to the report, "HOSTING offers the fastest CPUs on average, as well as greater performance predictability. In a Windows environment, HOSTING consistently outperformed both Rackspace and Amazon over the entire test period. The aggregate performance differentials between the three providers for Linux systems show HOSTING CPUs outperforming Rackspace's CPUs by 10.1% and Amazon's by 49%."
In terms of disk performance, HOSTING offers the fastest write speeds, averaging three times faster than Rackspace and six times faster than Amazon. In Dbench and file copy tests, HOSTING also provided the greatest stability.
During network performance tests, HOSTING outperformed Amazon and Rackspace in all seven benchmarks, consistently exhibiting higher speed, lower latency and more stable performance. Specifically, HOSTING's average network latency of 474 microseconds is about 70% less than that of either Rackspace or Amazon. When Linux systems are compared, network throughput is nearly nine times that of Rackspace and more than 2.5 times that of Amazon. Consequently, HOSTING's clients can transfer large quantities of data without the lags and stability issues that other cloud systems experience.
