Hospitality Job Board Hcareers Releases Q3 2013 Hospitality Hiring Report
Leisure and hospitality industry continues growth spurred by new construction
DENVER, Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Hcareers, the leading hospitality recruiting solution for providers and job seekers, released its Q3 2013 Hospitality Hiring Report. Job growth continues for the hospitality sector with a 20 percent increase over Q3 2012.
Other industry highlights from the report include –
An increase in the hotel/resort sector due to an increase in the number of rooms added to the Construction Pipeline (2,767 active hotel projects totaling 333,775 rooms in September alone). Compared to last year, this is a 15.6 percent increase in the number of rooms in the pipeline, as well as a 29.5 percent increase in rooms under construction.
An increased average daily rate in hotels (3.3 percent increase from last month). Revenue per room has also risen 3.6 percent to $70.36.
Food services and drinking places are driving growth into the hospitality industry, accounting for more than 80 percent of the employment increases in the industry.
The impact by the Affordable Care Act has yet to be determined, but is expected that several changes will be proposed in order to minimize negative impact on the restaurant industry.
"We're not only seeing growth in the hospitality industry," said Bryan Sauder, Hcareers Product Director, "We're also seeing what's driving that growth. We're noticing an increased demand for employees within the industry due in part to an increase in the consumer confidence index, indicating continued growth in coming months."
The most in demand non-management restaurant jobs this quarter – cook, cashier, host/hostess, waitress/waiter and busser. In the hotel/resort sector (non-management) – housekeeper, front desk, banquet services, cook and maintenance.
