Hospital For Special Surgery Is Only Hospital In Northeast To Receive 2013 Gallup Great Workplace Award
NEW YORK, April 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Hospital for Special Surgery has received, for the second consecutive year, the 2013 "Gallup Great Workplace Award" and is the only hospital in the Northeast to achieve this recognition.
According to Gallup, this award recognizes the best-performing organizations for their special ability to create an engaged workplace culture. Applicants' results were compared across a research database composed of millions of work teams in more than 100 countries. A panel of experts evaluated the award-winning organizations based on what Gallup says was the most rigorous workplace research ever conducted.
HSS is one of just 32 organizations worldwide to be honored this year. The hospital is among the winners because its results demonstrate one of the most productive and engaged workforces in the world.
"Everyone at HSS is a valued contributor to providing an environment for excellence in patient care and safety," explained HSS President and CEO Louis A. Shapiro. "We are deeply honored by this recognition because it acknowledges the importance of everyone's role in making HSS such an
extraordinary hospital. The strong commitment to quality and service that has made us a world class institution is exhibited every day by members of the HSS family."
"These award-winning organizations set a new standard for workplace excellence," said Dr. James Harter, chief scientist, Gallup. "They have proven track records for improving lives along with performance. The management tenets they practice have proven value in both thriving and struggling economies overall."
Award winners will be honored at the Gallup Summit Spring 2013, which will take place May 7-9, 2013, in Omaha, Nebraska.
