LOS ANGELES, June 30, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hospital Association of Southern California Board of Directors announced today that Jim Barber, President and CEO, informed the Board of his plans to retire from HASC at the end of the year.
"Jim has provided inspired leadership and vision to our association for 27 years, 23 years as President," stated Richard Afable, M.D., 2016 HASC Chair. "Many of us can't remember HASC without him."
Over those many years, the association has been instrumental in helping hospitals provide high quality, safe and appropriate care to Southern California communities. As hospitals and the health care system evolved and changed, HASC was an effective advocate for thoughtful and progressive reform.
"Health care is an honorable endeavor with many good people of extremely strong character and unmatched integrity," said Barber. "What a wonderful way in which to spend one's life work. Thanks to all who have helped me along the way, provided counsel and advice, and unselfishly supported this association with your time and talents."
Added Afable, "For everything Jim has done for us over nearly three decades, please join me in wishing him all the best. We will miss him at HASC, but his contributions to improving health and the health care system will endure for years to come."
