Hospice Foundation of America Webinar To Focus on Assisting Clients Struggling with Spiritual Distress at the End of Life
WASHINGTON, July 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) will present a live, online webinar focusing on Assisting Clients Struggling with Spiritual Distress at the End of Life on Wednesday, July 13 from 1pm – 2:30pm ET. This webinar will offer tools and perspectives for clients struggling with spiritual difficulties at the end of life such as spiritual fears and anxieties, spiritual concerns and struggles, or other spiritual issues that arise as the person faces mortality. The live webinar features Kenneth Doka, PhD, MDiv; Betty Kramer, PhD, MSSW; and Robert Washington, PhD, MDiv.
"Spiritual distress, once called 'The Dark Night of the Soul,' is an issue that many dying people face as they approach the end of life," states Dr. Kenneth Doka, Senior Bereavement Consultant at HFA. "Clinicians need tools and interventive strategies to help their clients address these issues to help them find comfort and even peace." The panelists will discuss the sources and manifestations of spiritual distress, and examine specific assessment and interventive techniques.
This webinar is the last of a three-part series. Past programs have focused on techniques to assist in spiritual meaning-making, such as dignity enhancement therapies and living eulogies, and have also looked at funerals and other end-of-life rituals. Organizations can register for the July program for $100, or register for the three-part series at a discounted price of $240. Free CEs for professionals are included for the first week after each start date, and are only $5/participant after that date. Webinars will be accessible to registrants for a year after their live air dates. And for an additional $10, organizations can purchase a "Bonus Package" which allows them to access the webinars and host a site for HFA's Living With Grief Educational Program focusing on Spirituality.
