Hospice Foundation of America Webinar Focuses on Differences in Grieving Styles
WASHINGTON, Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Hospice Foundation of America (HFA) will present a live, online webinar examining the myths and realities of grieving styles in Real Men Don't Cry on Tuesday, October 14 from noon—1:30pm ET. Kenneth J. Doka, PhD, and Terry Martin, PhD, will focus on the different patterns or styles of grief, emphasizing that each of these patterns has distinct advantages and disadvantages.
"Many people believe that if a grieving person does not show or share sadness or express other emotions, then he or she is somehow suppressing or denying grief," states Doka. "In fact, grief reactions are highly individual and varied. Many men, and some women, may express their grief in more instrumental ways, showing grief in more cognitive or active manifestations."
Hospice Foundation of America webinars offer affordable, easily accessible information presented by some of the best-known names in the study of death, grief and loss, while also providing suggestions for hands-on strategies that can be applied in clinical practice. During the live program, participants have the opportunity to ask questions of presenters. Registration includes access to the program for a full year as an ongoing educational resource for staff and volunteer training. Registration is $84.95 for an organization or $24.95 for individuals; save by registering for all three programs ($240 for organizations and $70 for individuals). Free Continuing Education credits (CEs) are included for a wide range of professionals.
This program is part of HFA's New Understandings of Grief Webinar series, which explore many of the newer concepts that have helped expand our understanding of loss; other programs in the series look at Grief and Loss: Beyond Death and Helping Individuals Grow Through Grief.
