Horne International, Inc. Selected as Strategic Partner by Wind Harvest International, Inc.
FAIRFAX, Va., July 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Horne International, Inc. (OTCBB: HNIN.ob - News), today announced that it has entered into a Strategic Partnership Agreement with Wind Harvest International, Inc. (WHI) of Pt. Reyes, CA. Horne International will assist WHI in the development of future wind power projects and through its wholly owned subsidiary, Horne Engineering Services, LLC, will be a preferred engineering services partner to WHI for future domestic and international Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) installations. In addition to provision of various engineering services, Horne may also act as the prime contractor/services integrator to provide environmental impact assessments (EIA) as required for permits, operating licenses, approval by host country regulatory authorities and securing of funding from commercial and development assistance banks.
George Wagner, Chairman of Wind Harvest International stated, "We have been keen to develop a value added relationship with an engineering firm to assist WHI in the project development and installations of our Linear Array Vortex Turbine Systems (LAVTS) 636G. Horne has the history, focus, experience and depth of talent that we have been looking for."
Pending completion of financing for WHI's UK subsidiary, WHI expects to begin its site preparation of its VAWT for Scottish Electric Power in September 2011 with plans for four installations to follow shortly thereafter. The installation of the LAVTS 636G in the UK paves the way for marketing the turbines in the UK and obtaining the Feed in Tariff benefits, a necessary milestone for ramping up sales and installations worldwide.
Through the strategic partnership with WHI, Horne will receive rights to certain territories and sectors for jointly developing WHI VAWT and LAVTS projects and sales. Such rights may include Alaska, Central America and Caribbean, southern Africa, south Asia, and projects to be funded in part or whole by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), US Department of Defense (DoD) and development assistance banks, e.g., The World Bank Group (WB, IFC, IADB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
"Wind Harvest International has developed the leading vertical axis and linear array wind power technology in the world. Their drive for international certification with their project in the U.K. and their ability to develop wind power capacity globally should be in high demand for backfilling VAWTs on existing horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) footprints as well as stand-alone VAWT and LAVTS arrays, after certification is awarded," stated Evan Auld-Susott, CEO, Horne International. "Horne is pleased to be strategically positioned as a development and engineering partner for WHI going forward."
