Horne Engineering Services and the Energy Advisory Services Team Announce Joint Venture with ERIS Technologies to Provide Energy Efficiency Services to NRF Healthcare
FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Horne Engineering Services, LLC, a subsidiary of Horne International, Inc. (OTCBB: HNIN.ob – News), today announced that the team of Horne Engineering Services, PGAL, Inc., SMARTBIM and Treasury Advisory Services have entered into an agreement with ERIS Technologies, LLC to provide Energy Efficiency Services to NRF Healthcare's portfolio of Health Care facilities. The team offers an integrated capability to enable facilities managers to provide a safer, healthier, more secure, and energy efficient environment for residents and staff of facilities.
On January 2, 2012 the team started Phase 1 work on behalf of NRF Healthcare. The initial assignment requires completion of studies for four of a total of 80 independent and assisted living facilities located throughout the US. The facilities average approximately 80,000 square feet each. The contract value of Phase 1 is $US 80,000. If all 80 facilities are assessed the contract value will exceed $US 2,000,000.
Horne's branded product, named Building Energy Efficiency Systems (BEES), will assist in realization of energy cost savings of 30% or more (based on American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers studies and previous demonstration projects) as well as potential net savings through Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tax credits, and net metering for sell back of excess energy produced when alternative energy sources such as solar and wind energy are integrated in to the building energy retrofit design. It is anticipated that the customer will be able to finance energy efficiency upgrades with the combined energy and operational savings, tax credit and other location-specific financial incentives, improved maintenance, and higher productivity and occupancy rates.
The combination of building information management (BIM)-based rapid building energy performance modeling, integrated project delivery, computer dashboarded real time monitoring and assessment, and energy savings-based financing will enable facility owners to achieve significant energy efficiencies at a net cost savings. Energy efficiency will be substantially improved through a phased process of data collection, energy audits, Revit BIM Conceptual Energy Analysis (CEA), US Department of Energy (DOE) provided and IRS-compliant energy modeling, analyses of results, reporting, implementation of selected energy retrofits, and improved facilities operations and maintenance.
"Horne Engineering Services is excited to have this opportunity to proficiently demonstrate the high value of our more than 20 years of engineering, energy, environment, and efficiency services experience with our partners at ERIS-Tech, SmartBIM and Treasury Advisory Services." said Darryl K. Horne, P.E., President, Horne Engineering Services. "Our work on behalf of NRF Healthcare's facilities will demonstrate our unique and effective solution to energy savings, as well as Horne's commitment to a diversification beyond our traditional government contracting work."
