Horizon Media Launches "Spring!," to Help Agency's New Parents Transition Back to Work
Agency additionally expands its paid parental leave benefits policy in New York and Los Angeles
NEW YORK, May 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Horizon Media, the largest and fastest growing privately held media services agency in the world, is pleased to announce the launch of Spring!, a new internal employee program that seeks to facilitate a smooth transition back to work for new mothers and fathers. In addition, Horizon Media has expanded its paid parental leave benefits policy, allowing new parents to receive additional paid time off to better transition back into the workplace.
Spring!, effectively a spring board back into the office for new parents, provides education, support, and a suite of wellness benefits to new Horizon parents. The Spring! program is the brainchild of Louba Lababedi, Senior Media Buyer at Horizon Media, in partnership with Eileen Benwitt, Chief Talent Officer.
"At my previous company, I found it difficult to transition from maternity leave back into work life," said Louba Lababedi, Senior Media Buyer at Horizon Media, and creator of the Spring! Program. "I knew I couldn't be the only new parent that found the transition challenging. There was a white space to implement a program that could assist parents during the difficult transition between parental leave and their return to work."
The Spring! program includes an educational video series across three pivotal points for new parents: before, during, and after their parental leave. Spring! videos encompass everything from preparing your desk/office for leave, to child care considerations, to the process of reacclimatizing back to the work place and beyond. New parents will have access to: transition coaching with a seasoned working parent support coach; a 3 month paid membership at Horizon's onsite gym, Horizen; a spa day or "date night" dinner funded by the agency; access to transition-focused literature for both mothers and fathers; breast pump accessories; a membership to The La Leche League -- a non-profit, organization dedicated to providing support to women who want to breastfeed; and a lactation transport system from Milk Stork for mothers traveling for business. Horizon is currently one of only a handful of companies that currently offers lactation transport for breastfeeding mothers. The agency also has dedicated rooms for new mothers returning to work in both New York and Los Angeles.
"Finding work life balance is hard enough -- we want to support our people even more as they are experience a life milestone," said Eileen Benwitt, Chief Talent Officer at Horizon Media. "We created Spring! because we listened to our people and heard that returning from parental leave is not easy. We will continue to fuel our incredible culture by engaging our people on both a personal and professional level to create an even better workplace."
Spring! was brought to life through the agency's INVENT@horizon platform which acts as a launch pad to drive invention across the agency. Through the INVENT@horizon suite of programs, Horizon employees have the opportunity to submit ideas for the chance to receive funding and development resources. Employees accepted into the Horizon Incubator program receive start up support and are granted time during the work week to work on their projects.
