BOSTON, Oct. 11, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Clear Ballot announced today that Hood River County, Oregon will implement ClearVote as its new voting system, providing the county with a modern voting system. Hood River County is the thirteenth county in Oregon to implement ClearVote. Now nearly two thirds of registered voters in Oregon use Clear Ballot technology to cast their votes.
This new voting system increases efficiency with an optical scanning tabulation system that scans and captures high-resolution digital images of paper ballots providing instant visual results. ClearVote software organizes all digital images allowing ballots that contain markings that may show uncaptured voter intent to be easily visualized and sorted.
Hood River Director of Records and Assessment, Brian Beebe made the decision to switch to Clear Ballot after witnessing his colleague's success; "It was clear to me that Clear Ballot would improve our elections by reducing costs and the labor required to conduct elections, and most importantly improve the transparency and integrity of our elections. A win-win!"
ClearVote uses commercially available hardware paired with modern software, which increases the affordability and scalability for counties. Since the initial ClearVote certification in Oregon two years ago, Clear Ballot has implemented and certified several enhancements based on technology upgrades and feedback from customers, providing continuous innovation to Oregon counties.
"We're very pleased to have Hood River County on board," said CEO Larry Moore. "As our partnerships with Oregon counties continue to grow, we gain valuable feedback that allows us to improve our products statewide. Our continuous growth is a testament to the efficient elections our customers are conducting, providing a level of transparency and confidence never before available in elections."
