Honored Lifetime VIP Member, Gary W. Jay, M.D., Has Been Recognized by Strathmore's Who's Who as Professional of the Year 2016
FARMINGDALE, N.Y., May 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Gary W. Jay, M.D. FAAPM, FACFEI of Cary, North Carolina has recently been recognized by Strathmore's Who's Who as Professional of the Year 2016 for his outstanding contributions and achievements in the field of Drug Development.
Dr. Gary W. Jay received his M.D. and completed his residency in Neurology at Northwestern University Medical Center. For the last 2 years he has been the Chief Medical Officer at AdviseClinical, a Clinical Research Organization (CRO) in Raleigh, NC which provides clinical development and research technology; he is also a strategic advisor for drug development, for academia and government agencies. For the first 25 years of his career, Dr. Jay owned and ran a tertiary care interdisciplinary Headache, Pain and Neuro-Rehabilitation Functional Restoration Center. During that time, he was also a PI, KOL and Consultant to Industry. Along with his group of 20 clinicians in his office, he saw over 30,000 patients during that time. Dr. Jay was one of the original 30 founding members of the American Academy of Algology, now known as the American Academy of Pain Medicine. He was also a founding member of the American Academy of Pain Management in 1988 and spent a good part of his professional career working with and supporting this organization for the next 14 years. Dr. Jay also founded and was the first president of the Southern California Pain Society (1981). He has served on the Board of Directors of the American Association for the study of Headache, now known as the American Headache Society, 1988-1990 and is Immediate Past President of the Eastern Pain Association, (2012-2014).
He is senior faculty at PainWeek where he most enjoys speaking. He is a member of the American Pain Society, the American Academy of Pain Medicine (of which he is also a Fellow), the American Academy of Pain Management and is a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute. He has multiple diplomates. Dr. Jay's published works include more than 140 medical articles in peer reviewed journals dealing with headache, pain of all types, the autonomic nervous system and mild traumatic brain injury. Also included in his list of publications are medical textbook chapters for books that are not part of the 5 textbooks he has written and had published. His numerous certifications include Neuro-Rehabilitation and Forensic Medicine. He chaired the groups which wrote the diagnostic and treatment algorithms of Chronic Benign Pain, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and Mild Traumatic Brain injury, which were passed into law by the State of Colorado toward the end of the 1990s. Dr. Jay has served as Medical Director at Schwarz/UCB Pharma and Clinical Disease Area Expert-Pain at Pfizer. He was the Senior Strategist at INC, CNS and Senior Medical Director. He has also served as Chief Medical Officer at Archimedes Pharmaceuticals and RAPID Pharmaceuticals prior to joining AdviseClinical as their Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Jay's leisure time is spent reading, writing (aside from clinical- fiction (6 novels) and a memoir (the latter written under a pseudonym), music (electric blues guitar) as well as other hobbies.
