LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Ushering in the new year for audiences worldwide, Hong Kong will deliver its biggest and most spectacular New Year Countdown Celebration in history, including an extended "Pyromusical" show launched from the iconic Victoria Harbour as midnight approaches on December 31, 2016.
Fireworks, colorful pyrotechnics, music and an all-new light show featuring patterns symbolizing stars, butterflies and a 20-gun salute will illuminate Hong Kong's skies during the awe-inspiring celebration. Spectators will also be able to "wish upon a shooting star" when pyrotechnic "shooting stars" representing good wishes for happiness, health, fortune, and wealth are launched from the rooftops of various buildings on Hong Kong Island every 15 minutes starting at 11 p.m. The celebration will conclude with a spectacular light show themed around the concept of northern lights for a fitting welcome to the new year.
As part of this celebration, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) will also host a lively street party featuring various artist performances starting at 10 p.m. at the Tsim Sha Tsui Pier.
