Honeywell CEO David Cote to be Keynote Speaker at Greater Baltimore Committee Annual Meeting
BALTIMORE, Feb. 26, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Honeywell CEO and Chief Executive Magazine's 2013 CEO of the Year David Cote will be the keynote speaker at the Greater Baltimore Committee's Annual Meeting on May 22.
Cote, an outspoken advocate for "an American competitiveness agenda," is a member of the steering committee of the Campaign to Fix Debt and vice chairman of the Business Roundtable. In 2010 President Barack Obama invited Cote to serve on the bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform (also known as the Simpson-Bowles Commission). In 2009 Obama named Cote co-chairman of the U.S.-India CEO Forum, which he has served on since 2005.
Cote has led Honeywell since 2002, overseeing the sales and earnings-per-share growth of the company, which employs more than 130,000 workers, including 20,000 scientists and engineers.
Cote has spoken multiple times about the need to strengthen U.S. competitiveness within the global economy. Cote, whose company makes half of its revenue outside the U.S., has a unique perspective on how to make America more competitive by getting its debt and reform policies in order and capitalizing on natural resources to attract international companies. He also urges government to recognize its role as a business "enabler" as well as a regulator.
"The Greater Baltimore Committee is honored to have David Cote as the keynote speaker of our annual meeting at a time when working to strengthen Maryland's competitiveness for economic growth and job creation is our organization's top strategic priority," said GBC President & CEO Donald C. Fry.
In addition to Cote's keynote address, the GBC annual meeting, which attracts more than 900 members and guests to make it the premier meeting of business advocates in Maryland, will include the election of new GBC board members and an awards ceremony. The dinner event will be held at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel.
The Greater Baltimore Committee, the region's most prominent organization of business and civic leaders, focuses the resources of its broad private-sector membership on strengthening the business climate and quality of life in the Greater Baltimore region and Maryland.
