Honeywell CEO Dave Cote Named One Of The Top 100 Leaders In STEM Education And Careers
MORRIS PLAINS, N.J., June 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that Chairman and CEO Dave Cote was named to the list of 100 CEO Leaders in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) by STEMconnector®, the one-stop-shop for STEM information. This is the third major award that Mr. Cote has received in 2013. Earlier this year, he was recognized as one of the World's Best CEOs by Barrons, and last month was named CEO of the Year by Chief Executive.
"Honeywell invests in STEM through our Honeywell Hometown Solutions organization, delivering high-quality, award-winning programs that deliver results we can quantify – one community, one home, one teacher and one student at a time," said Cote. "I am proud of our commitment to these efforts, and honored to be named to this elite list."
"The 100 CEO leaders in STEM represent the best thinking at the highest levels," said STEMconnector® CEO Edie Fraser. "It is all about CEO commitment. We must ensure America's youth and workforce are equipped with the STEM skills needed to compete in the market economy."
Cote is being recognized for championing multiple STEM-related programs, including the Honeywell Leadership Challenge Academy, which is available exclusively to children of Honeywell employees to develop their leadership skills through science-oriented workshops, lectures and team exercises, and the Honeywell Educators @ Space Academy, where middle school teachers participate in 45 hours of classroom, laboratory and training focused specifically on science and space exploration. Other STEM-related programs include the Honeywell Initiative for Science & Engineering, which brings Nobel laureates to universities in emerging regions to inspire students to pursue careers in science and engineering. Another award-winning program is FMA Live!, bringing hip hop-style science education to middle school students who learn Sir Isaac Newton's Three Laws of Motion and the process of scientific inquiry in an innovative, entertaining and memorable way.
Since its formation in 2005, Honeywell Hometown Solutions has become one of the most recognized corporate citizenship initiatives in the world, receiving more than 65 awards for its community outreach efforts.
