ATLANTA, Sept. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Honeywell Aerospace (NYSE: HON) was awarded the National Safety Council's prestigious 2015 Robert W. Campbell Award for outstanding business achievement through the integration of employee health, safety and environment management. Built upon scientific evaluation, the award recognizes businesses worldwide that have ingrained these three aspects as key business values throughout their organization.
"This award would not be possible without a combination of strong leadership, committed employees and an effective management system," said Tim Mahoney, president and chief executive officer, Honeywell Aerospace. "We protect our employees and workplace communities by emphasizing health, safety and environment in all aspects of our business. It speaks to our culture and ideology as a company in further improving our business and employee productivity by conducting it safely every minute of every day."
Leveraging its well-documented Honeywell Operating System business and management system and integrating Health, Safety and Environment (HSE), Honeywell Aerospace has experienced significant improvements year over year in these key areas. Incident rates have reduced by nearly 50 percent while audit scores have improved by nearly 40 percent. The Aerospace business group has experienced the lowest injury rates in its history.
Established in 2004 and supported by a network of partners across five continents, the international Robert W. Campbell Award aims to foster the sharing of leading-edge environmental, health and safety management and best practices worldwide. The Campbell Award is named after the first president of the National Safety Council, a noted safety pioneer who believed that the success of the safety movement would depend on educating engineers, top executives and the general public on the business benefits of environmental, health and safety management.
Mahoney accepted the award on behalf of Honeywell Aerospace. The event occurred at the Omni Atlanta Hotel at the CNN Center. Honeywell's Federal Manufacturing & Technologies Kansas City campus was also a 2014 runner-up for the same award.
