Hondros College of Nursing Introduces New Program in Medical Laboratory Technology
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 15, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Hondros College of Nursing (HCN) will welcome students to its new program in Medical Laboratory Technology at the Columbus/Westerville campus in April 2019. Like nurses and other medical professionals, Medical Laboratory Technicians are vital members of the healthcare team in labs, hospitals and doctors' offices. They work with lab equipment to analyze body fluids and samples, performing tests essential to patient diagnosis and treatment. The Westerville campus is located at 4140 Executive Parkway.
"We are excited to introduce the Medical Laboratory Technology Program," said Kelly Cavanagh, campus executive director of Hondros College of Nursing Westerville. "It is an important extension of our mission and offers a terrific option for those interested in becoming part of the healthcare profession, in ways other than hands-on nursing care."
According to U.S. Census data, the country's population over 65 is expected to more than double by 2060, to a new high of 98.2 million. This increase in the aging population is expected to increase the need for medical diagnostics, including lab tests for cancer or Type 2 diabetes. And according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical laboratory technologists and technicians is projected to grow 13 percent through 2026, faster than the average for all occupations.
The new Medical Laboratory Technology program requires six quarters and 94 quarter credits, and graduates earn an associate of applied science degree. The program is also offered at the Hondros College of Nursing Cincinnati/West Chester (Ohio) campus.
Prospective students can find out more about the new Medical Laboratory Technology program by visiting hondros.edu or calling 855-906-8773. Follow Hondros College of Nursing on Facebook and Twitter.
