NEW YORK, July 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte announced today the appointment of Homi Kapadia as vice chairman, Deloitte LLP, and leader of its national life sciences industry practice, one of the nation's largest life sciences accounting and consultancies with nearly 4,000 professionals serving the nation's major pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology and consumer health care manufacturers.
A principal with Deloitte Consulting LLP, Kapadia has more than 28 years of experience at Deloitte. He has an extensive client-service background advising market-leading organizations in the areas of strategy, operations, enterprise applications and supply chain management, among others. He also has strong executive credentials having served on the board of directors of Deloitte LLP and the consulting executive committee in addition to holding oversight roles within the life sciences practice. He succeeds Terry Hisey, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, who has transitioned to a top client-service position for the practice.
"We are delighted that Homi is assuming the leadership of our life sciences group – he has the right blend of skills and insight to position Deloitte as a trusted advisor as the industry responds to a new health care environment shaped by reform and market forces," said Bill Copeland, vice chairman, U.S. life sciences and health care leader, Deloitte LLP.
Kapadia will guide the practice to deliver a "cross sector" viewpoint to clients in light of their growing interdependency on other sectors as the health system converges around population health and value-based incentives. "We are moving to an era in which the growth and success of a life sciences company depends upon new relationships on the clinical delivery and payment sides, and upon having the right scale and level of capabilities globally," said Kapadia. "I look forward to working with our partners, principals and directors in drawing upon Deloitte's range of services and perspectives in giving executives at life sciences companies the confidence to chart a way forward in today's complex environment."
Kapadia is based in Deloitte's Philadelphia office and has both a Master of Science degree and Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles. He also has a bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
