"As a nation we are bound by love of country and appreciation for the men and women who serve in our nations military. No matter where we build in the country Homes for Our Troops has experienced the willingness of communities to come together and roll up their shirt sleeves to help American heroes who have protected our freedom and that have returned home severely injured," said John Gonsavles founder of Homes for Our Troops. "To help our severely injured veterans rebuild their lives and regain their freedom and independence we are holding ten build brigades across our great country during the month of April," Gonsalves announced.

A Homes for Our Troops Build Brigade is a three-day construction blitz when professional tradespeople volunteer their time, skills and materials to get the house framed, install doors, windows, siding and roof to make it weather tight.
Since its inception in 2004 Homes for Our Troops has completed 57 specially adapted homes. It usually has more than 30 homes in various stages of construction throughout the United States each year. It takes about six months to complete a home once ground has been broken to the presentation of the Keys to the veteran. The average cost of each home is about $330,000 depending upon location. The homes are presented at no cost to severely injured veterans thanks to generous support from sponsors, professional tradespeople, foundation grants and community minded volunteers.
